Tascam introduced the MX-2424 in 2000 to replace their popular DA-88 (the MX-2424 has been discontinued and replaced by the X-48). Originally retailing at $3,999, this 24-track digital recorder can still be found used on Ebay or Craigslist for a fraction of the price. Of course the downside of buying a used multi-track recorder is trying to figure out a very complex machine without the aid of the User’s Manual.
