In 1992, the U.S. Congress passed the JFK Records Act, mandating that all documents still held secret must be released to the public within 25 years. Yet, the government has continued to delay five years past the original 2017 deadline. Why won’t they finally free the #JFKFILES?

Thanks to a recent FOIA request filed by a group of #Kennedy Assassination historians against the #Biden Administration and the National Archives, we now know the answer: the CIA is blocking certain key documents from seeing the light of day.

The FOIA documents reveal that the reason given for withholding thousands of pages was “approval by CIA” was needed. And the CIA won’t budge.

The deadline for release of ALL the files was December 15, 2022 — 5 years past the original 2017 deadline set forth in the 1992 #JFK Records Act.

As president in 2017, Donald #Trump had the absolute power to declassify and release all of the remaining secret JFK assassination files, and promised he would do so. But after a last minute visit from CIA officials, Trump suddenly changed his mind and decided to withhold the documents. Why did Trump flip-flop on the files’ release? We explore that question.

2024 presidential candidate #RFKJr (President Kennedy’s nephew) has pledged to release all of the remaining classified JFK Assassination documents on day one of his presidency if elected. #RFK is most likely the only president who will not cave to pressure from the intelligence community, having such a personal interest in this important history.

If the CIA is powerful enough to overthrow governments and assassinate leaders around the world, they’re certainly powerful enough to keep documents implicating them in the murder of President Kennedy from the public indefinitely.
